Another product from InnovetPet that was created for one of our own. Gordon the Bulldog faced multiple issues with his skin. It’s not all that uncommon for Bulldogs to have skin issues, but poor Gordon was simply always in discomfort or pain from dry, cracked, and peeling skin. He scratched constantly and then he smelled funny from the saliva on his skin that caused even further irritation for him. Does that sound familiar to you?
In his case, he had issues in the folds of his skin, the wrinkles that Bulldogs are known for. He needed a protective barrier that would help to ease his pain. It needed to be a consistent oil that was perfectly blended with a carrier oil that would give it the right consistency to stay in place, have time to absorb properly into the skin, while not staying too oily and lingering on the outside of the skin and getting on you, your furniture, etc.
With that in mind, we created exactly what was needed, using hemp oil and avocado seed oil as our carrier oil. The proved to be the best performing in test after test. It can be worked into the paws, between the toes and rubbed into those hard to reach places for dogs that have skin folds as Bulldogs do, and it will work on any dog that suffers the same pain and discomfort that Gordon did with his skin.

What Is Hemp Protect Balm?
Made from a perfect blend of products that, as the bottle says, help to “heal”, “protect” and lets them “wag” once again.
It was formulated to assist with skin issues, dermatitis problems, allergies, hot spots, and pain, inflammation, and arthritis in dogs of any shape and size. It’s been formulated specifically for quick absorption and goes to work immediately.
It’s a hemp balm that has no THC (a toxic substance to dogs) and a total of 14 ingredients that were carefully chosen to help bring immediate and effective relief of a ton of help for many various issues. It’s totally free of THC while containing 250 mg of full-spectrum hemp which has the benefit of many different cannabinoids, offering a complete entourage effect for a wide variety of ailments.
It is a safe, natural, non-toxic way for you to help your dog gain relief from the itching and burning that are caused by skin conditions. When they feel better, they’ll look better. As they stop chewing on themselves, the skin has a chance to heal and the underlying issues are addressed by key ingredients that bring relief, healing, and health back to the skin. Red spots will immediately begin to cool, after having been hot to the touch until the application of the balm - exactly why they are called hot spots. The inflammation that causes your dog to chew and scratch until they bleed can eventually lead to open sores that potentially can get irritated.
How Does Hemp Balm Work?
With ingredients like Organic Hemp Oil. Avocado Seed Oil, Organic Hemp Extract, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Oil, Beeswax, St John’s Wort, Cramp Bark, White Willow Bark, Chamomile, Rosemary Leaf Extract, lavender, Blue Mallee Eucalyptus, and Lemon Peel Oil, this balm is 100% safe and organic.
Simply apply the balm directly to hot spots, cracked skin or sore areas. It begins working immediately and you’ll see your pet relax with relief within a few minutes as the oil is absorbed and the hemp finds its way to the endocannabinoid system (ECS). It is the ECS that helps to control the body’s response to pain and many other things.
The response to pain from arthritis is largely due to inflammation and the balm works immediately to fight inflammation, by way of the ECS, and also dull the pain that is often the result of the tender, sore joints.
The ECS is primarily a system within the body that helps to maintain the balance in the body and all its systems, known as a state of homeostasis. You can simply think of it as balance. When anything causes an imbalance in the body, such as an irritation or a painful sore, the rest of the body shifts its energies to fight inflammation and send signals of pain to the brain.
When the ECS is supplemented with phytocannabinoids, such as hemp containing CBD and other cannabinoids, the ECS is able to boost the response to pain, inflammation, metabolism, and more.
The skin has its very own version of an ECS that also works to maintain skin health and helps their bodies produce beautiful fur, skin, and relieve issues such as dandruff and even fight eczema or psoriasis. Let’s talk about it more in-depth so you have a thorough understanding of the ECS and what it does.
What Is the Endocannabinoid System?
This has been discovered in fairly recent years. Scientists first learned that humans had an ECS in the mid-1990s. It was immediately researched and animals were checked to see if they also had an ECS.
It has been found, so far, in all species of mammals, fish, birds, and reptiles. It’s widely believed that all living beings have an ECS that works to maintain homeostasis within their bodies. In the many years of researching the ECS, it has been found that it performs regulations of several functions of the body.
- Immune system function
- Inflammation, including neuroinflammation
- Motor control
The Endocannabinoid System is made of three parts.
- Receptors in the body, located in the nervous system, the brain, and all around the body.
- Enzymes that help to reduce and break down the cannabinoids and endocannabinoids in the body.
The word endocannabinoid refers to a cannabinoid that is produced within the body. “Endo” is taken from the word endogenous which means that they’re produced from within the body. That’s unsettling to some people who have been raised to believe that anything that is associated with cannabis is a bad thing. The truth is that cannabinoids are natural and normal to the body of all creatures.
The ECS is essential to maintaining homeostasis within the body. To understand what homeostasis is, it refers to the body’s efforts to keep all systems functioning at their proper levels. It works constantly, monitoring all of the body systems and levels of hormones, enzymes, production of plasma, cellular tissues, metabolic functions, and much more.
When a cannabinoid is consumed, which is found in many other plants and foods that we consume on a regular basis, the cannabinoids from those foods make their way to one of the receptors in the body that are part of the ECS.
There are two types of these receptors:
- CB1 - Located in the central nervous system which includes the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves located all over the body.
- CB2 - Found in the nerves of the extremities, in the digestive system, and in specific types of cells within the immune system.
The majority of receptors seem to be located in the nervous system of the body and they are capable of impacting and regulating many very important functions within the entire body.
These functions include:
- Immune system function
- Reproduction and fertility
- Body temperature regulation
- Motor control
As you can see, cannabinoids, via the ECS, are capable of enhancing many things in the body and helping to regulate and impact the health of animals and humans alike. This is why using hemp, containing many types of cannabinoids, specifically CBD, in our formulation for Hemp Protect Balm, is so fantastic for your dog of any age, size, or breed.
Perhaps the best thing about using hemp and other natural products is that our balm is safe. It’s earth-friendly and it is non-toxic and easy to use. There is no need to fear cannabinoid addiction or dependency. It isn’t a drug, it isn’t addictive in any way and cannabinoids, as we’ve shown, are completely safe and natural. Application of the balm can potentially ease the pain of skin inflammation and also work to reduce the inflammation itself. The balm is also capable of having a positive impact on the pain from arthritis of the joints and helping to ease digestive disorders and many other things.
In fact, this balm was created for Gordon, the pet of one of our founders. Matt and Dave both have pets and most of the products that are now available to people were formulated specifically for one or several of their own pets. They simply wouldn’t ever use anything that they weren’t 100% sure was safe and effective.
You can take that to the bank, and you can also take advantage of the product guarantee that comes with every product. You’ll find that when you use the balm, you’ll see results and you’ll become part of a family of other customers who are also happy and satisfied in trusting their pets to the products at Innovet.
